Featuring acts from over 130 bands and performers, Lollapalooza 2011’s electronic and dance music stage feature performances by popular alternative rock, heavy metal, punk rock and hip hop bands. Dance and comedy performances, and craft booths can also be found in this annual 2-day event.
This year’s event includes artists like Eminem, Foo Fighters, Coldplay, Muse and My Morning Jacket, deadmau5, A Perfect Circle, Cee Lo Green, Damian “Jr. Gong” Marley & Nas, the Cars and Ween, as well as (deep breath) Bright Eyes, Arctic Monkeys, Big Audio Dynamite, Deftones, Beirut, Explosions in the Sky, Death From Above 1979, Ratatat and Crystal Castles.
Lollapalooza has helped expose and popularize artists such as Red Hot Chili Peppers, Pearl Jam, The Cure, Primus, The Killers, Rage Against the Machine, Arcade Fire, Nine Inch Nails, Jane's Addiction, Metallica, X Japan, Soundgarden, Siouxsie & the Banshees, The Smashing Pumpkins, Muse, Alice in Chains, Tool, Hole, 30 Seconds to Mars, The Strokes, Lady GaGa and the Starlight Revue, and Green Day.
