An apology from U.S. Rep. Doug Lamborn was sent to the White House in relation to a comment he made Friday during an interview with a Denver radio station.
During the interview about Obama's budget policies, the Colorado Republican said that being linked to President Barack Obama would be like touching a tar baby.
Tar baby is defined in Merriam-Webster's dictionary as something from which it is nearly impossible to extricate oneself; it has also long been used as a derogatory term for blacks.
Because of this, Lamborn is taking serious heat from several angles especially from the black community. Monday evening, Lamborn's office sent a news release saying the congressman had sent a personal letter to the US President apologizing for using a term some find insensitive. The release said Lamborn is confident that President Obama will accept his heartfelt apology.
