July 11, 2011 is 7-Eleven’s 42nd Birthday and they are giving away free 7.11 ounce Slurpees.
The stores got their name because they had such radically long hours. They opened at seven in the morning and stayed open untileleven o'clock at night when they first started. Now, many 7-Elevens stay open 24 hours a day.
More than 465 stores across USA, including seven in the Tri-Cities, will each give away 1,000 7.11-ounce Slurpee drinks to customers but not every 7-Eleven will take part in this activity, as many of the stores are franchises owned by small businessmen, who can decide if they wish to participate or not.
